Campral

Does anyone have any experience with Campral? For those of you who do not know, Campral seems to help with Alchoholism.

I have been on it for 3 years and have not drank for 3 years but I attribute sobriety alot more to AA than Campral. I have over a period of time cut the dose in half with no ill effects. My doctor seems somewhat clueless about Campral in general and he is an Addictionist MD

I do not have a specific question just would like to see what people have experienced and let others know it is out there. One more thing in my bag of tricks.

I was on it for three months recently and found no ill effects from drinking on it. What I mean is without a support system the pill will not stop you from drinking. I found it to reduce cravings but the habit part of what we do will not change unless you change it. Pill or no pill.

I've been on it since 27th July and stayed sober... I have never tried giving up alcohol without it so I can't comment on it really other than to say I'm still sober so something is working... i don't go to AA or any other support group..

I think it helped me at the beginning as a sort of placebo.. i would think " well i've taken the pill therefore i shouldn't be craving a drink " and then i would forget about it for a while... ?

I took it for a while but I didn't really notice any effect at all. So I stopped taking it. If I remember correctly, even with fantastic insurance it was something like a $50 copay.
