I noticed how arrogant all my friends are. I can't even bare to be around them now that I'm sober. I look around like "wow how was I hanging out with these people?" LOL

I posted this on another thread, but I forgot how your senses are heightened when you are not drunk/hungover. When taking my son out of his crib this morning, I breathed in the scent his head, smells like fresh baked bread.

I've noticed that people smile back when you smile at them first. I never smiled when I was drinking.

I noticed that Drunk people suck to be around.

Also I can't stand waiting in line to order behind two stoners still staring at the menu items lost in space

When you are drunk and high, I never realized how much of a annoying space case I must have been.

It's weird to be so aware of all of my senses! I got up this morning and walked to the grocery store (I live in the city) and not being hungover introduced me to a whole new world! I was so thankful to have that opportunity that I was only slightly bothered walking past a church doing Oktoberfest.

The feeling of sliding my feet under the sheets when I go to bed. I passed out (in various locations) for so long I had completely forgotten this sensation.

I notice how calm I feel. I'd been living w/ this constant anxiety-buzz/noise in my head for so long, I actually just thought it was a mental disorder. Turns out only half right.

Just how good it is to be in on a Saturday night, watching television, eating good food and just relaxing with my husband and my dog.

Sitting in the garden I noticed how beautiful our row of herbs are. Mint, coriander, basil, rosemary, parsley. Each a different shade of green, with a wonderful fragrance. They look even more gorgeous when it has been raining, their leaves glisten and shine.
We've had them for years. I never appreciated their beauty when I had a vodka in hand.

Thumbs up

Speaking of gardens Jeni, When I remarried
almost 4 yrs ago, my husbands wife of 35yrs.
who passed away had gardens all around the
house. It was her passion. Anyway, I told my
husband I defenitely didnt want to garden and
so we cut just about all the gardens down to
make mowing the lawn easier. Well.....that was
then. Within the past 2 yrs, i have backyard gardens
that Ive established with many of his late wifes
bulbs still poping up. I LOVE THEM....!!!!

2 days ago, i dig up all the bulbs i planted last yr.
and tilled the soil and replanted the Red Canna Lilies
placing them carefully and lovingly in 4 long rows
of 8 in each planting a grand total of 32 in that bed.

Never did I think In all my life would so patiantly plant
one bulb at a time in a flower bed like I have now. So,
the moral of the story is, it's never too late to learn to
plant bulbs in recovery.

I notice how efficient I am at work. This took quite a few months as I was super foggy and moody at first. But now at almost 8 months I am exceling at work and offering to help others at work.

This makes me super happy and I love noticing it. I answer my emails and return all my calls now, and don't feel put upon and drained like before. Instead I feel lucky to have my work. : )

I noticed trust in my husbands eyes/actions again... it took awhile to come back. But, slowly and surly it is coming back and we are building an amazing sober life together.

Thanks for the thread I needed it!
