Tried to do it with my ex and it went around in circles and got mixed up with finances and yada yada yada. I just wanted to say from my heart I was sorry for my part due to my addiction and being human but so much toxin builds up and I don't own it all I'm trying my best. Its a lot harder than it seems. My dad and I did it because we both want it but very difficult when one holds on to resentments. I felt pretty terrible afterwards. Like hammering a nail into wood and removing the nail but the hole remains. Not sure what to do because I still want to make my amends and peace.

Sometimes we make amends and it fixes things...sometimes tho, it doesn't Fitz.
I used to think amends was synonymous with absolution, but it's not.

I found I had to have the attitude of I do what I can and then it's up the God, The Universe, and whatever the other person has going on.

I'm proud you make the effort tho Fitz.
Don't beat yourself up over this.

All you can do is try Fitz. Maybe you will be heard on one of your attempts. Maybe a letter could express what you're trying to say without adding in all the extra stuff. Some people write letters just to get it all out and never mail them...

For me, one step in owning my mistakes has been to accept that others do not owe me forgiveness. They are entitled to their feelings. And that's OK, because in the end, making amends is more about being able to forgive myself.

I think it's great you're giving it your best shot.
