TOPIC: Have You Been To Hotel California?
Hi, Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
While listening to the radio this morning,
tunes that I grew up with like the Eagles.
Hotel Callifornia came on and I recall
reading a share here in SR just recently
where Hotel California was mentioned.
As often as I have heard that song, to
be honest, I never really knew the meaning
of it. So I listened carefully to the words
and if im right, does it have to do with
going to a "crazy ward"?
I say that because when family did an
intervention on me back in August 1990,
I was picked up by the authorities and
driven to the hospital where I spent the
first night in the " crazy ward" as I called
it because I tried to end my miserable
life downing a hand full of pills the night
before.
That first night i was scared to death as
I watched people shuffling across the floor,
hugging the wall and talking to themselves.
The windows were fenced over, outlets filled
in with plaster all for protection. Anything
and everything was checked before given
back to me and nothing returned if would
cause danger to me.
My mental state was questionable that first
day but test later cleared me of that kind of
illness and my problem was diagnoised as and
alcoholic. From there I spent 28 days in rehab
and was released to go home afterwards.
I was able to leave Hotel California.

There is no actual hotel California specifically. It was a metaphor for the party scene in LA.
A close relative is married to joe walsh's brother frank.
It is a awesome song. Joe has a new album out now. He still performs everywhere. I follow him on Facebook.
It must also run in the family. His nephews are very talented musicians. Not me... Tin ear.
Glad your out and here with us these days!

He had bad issues. I met him twice. First at my cousins wedding. Not sooo sober. Sad kinda. Then a few years ago at a house party. Much more sober. The weeding was 1986 so that's a good long time ago. He is supposed to be doing well. At least he looks it from the amount of shows he does.

I believe Joe Walsh has been sober for sometime now...a great writer & guitarist...always loved--"The Smoker you get, The Player you drink"....Remember he used to do cameo's on the Roseann (Barr) show?
