Finally caught the wagon, that thing is fast!
Just thought I would say hello to everyone out there. This is my first sober day in a very long time and thought I would join this community in case I have any info to offer or advice to ask.
I just flat got tired of being drunk all the time and I told my wife that come Monday, no more boozing. It's been a good day and thanks to the prayers of many at the moment I have no desire for alcohol at all. I have to give the credit to a higher being because after my last 10 day binge drinking 18-25 brews an evening I can't think of another explanation.
Every other time I have quit to appease my wife for a VERY short period of time I would have cravings that drove me crazy. No cravings this time. Also, I think wanting to quit this is an empowering feeling that helps.
Sorry about my rant, it feels unusual to not be speaking Swahili and wandering around the garage slamming beers at this hour.

Glad you're here, got tired of it is an excellent reason to quit. And you're right that wagon is fast and you've gotta hang on tight cause it would like nothing better then to throw you off. Good luck my friend.
And if it gets too rough never be too proud to ask for help.

Welcome to SR you've found a fantastic place. There's so much encouragement and understanding on these boards.
Yup, wanting it, believing it, and accepting it were the three key things for me that really stopped the struggle.
Wishing you all the best.
