New here, not to Sobriety!!
Hey all, as the title states: "New here, not to Sobriety".
I have been sober for over 4 years and lovin it, lovin my life and
NOT missing the darn hangovers.
Moved here from Florida, due to zero work. Have family here, and there
as well, but had to go where the work is. Now I am a Facility Manager
for a large Self-Storage Facility, in the Metro Houston area.
I still go to AA meetings now and then, when I feel the need to,
although that does not happen often anymore.
Anyone wants to know anything/more, just give me a shout.

welcome to the site! I think you'll find there is a lot of wisdom and sobriety here, with great supportive folks.
I joined the site about 1 month ago, and have 14 years of sobriety. I find the people on here remarkable. Like going to a meeting!

Hi, Im Sharon and after my little family
moved to Houston back in 1997, with 7
yrs. sobriety, I connected here to SR as
an added tool to use in my own recovery.
Since then, Ive returned to my hometown
of Baton Rouge after a 10 yr stay in Houston,
remarried and still on my recovery path for
22yrs now continueing to share my own ESH
with others who are still struggling with addiction.

Thanks everyone who replied , and those who did not, I'll get to ya'll later....:-).
Anywho, my sobriety date is 06/15/2008, the day I married my 3rd wife.
She was recovering also, and an Ex-Stripper/Crack addict and I knew this from the start. We went to meetings, went to Church and myself, I even went to work for our fantastic Church 3 nights a week.
All was a bit rocky, money mostly, but all in good spirits, and we got by.
Until she brought Crack into my home. That was it, no more, I proceded to leave.
We got divorced, she hooked up with someone that helped her pay for the 2008 Heritage Softail we had just bought. I find out later that, she had Overdosed & died, from a friend, a month after the fact. One would think one would dive head first right back into a bottle of something right? Well that was not me, I dove into College and got an AS Degree in Corporate Network Security form the University of Phoenix.
Turned all my energy toward leaving Florida & moving to Texas for a job offer.
Now I'm great, doing well and want to give something back.....somehow.
If I have posted this in the wrong place, please let me know ok?
By the way: The only thing I am addicted to now is Fishing as much as possible, and maybe adding parts to my 2001 Jeep Wrangler....

The Woodlands huh? I lived there for a bit, when my Brother-in-Law
passed away last year. Beautiful place there. Want to move closer to the water so I can fish every day......Ohhhh-Raaaaa...

Welcome aboard GM! I have two years all starting here and with AA. I made 2 last week and will go for my once yearly check in with my home group and my 2 year coin. I think you will find a great group here and lots of work to be done so keep on posting. I am a bit North of you in NW LA., lived in San Antonio for four years (military.) Loved Austin and Stinky Falls and Corpus. I look forward to reading your posts.

I do not get winded anymore, I don't have to stop for a smoke
break, I do not stink like Cigs. That is such a disgusting smell,
and people that do smoke, like I was, do not realize that.

I'm still in the early days of sobriety, coming up to 40 days this week so I'm grateful for all the friendship and support I've found on this site. It's been the best move I've made so far.

Haha! Well you can tell your friend that it does wonders for ones mental health
The breathing thing is amazing, isn't it? When I exercise now I actually find it REFRESHING! I'm still in awe over that.
On the road to greater health I am indeed... and it's a very rewarding, fun one at that

Thank you yes, I am doing great by the Grace of God and my
own will to survive and prosper. It is a tough road, but God never
gives us more than we can handle.....
