here goes!

So,Today I have my first counseling session. Will probably try AA again.
I went for a month last year and was sober but have been drinking ever since.
I am so tired of being like this but by afternoon I start drinking with my Husband, AKA drinking buddy.
I am scared to start on this journey but I know I have to.
Thanks

Good luck Pooky, Its very hard to quit (at least for me anyway), when you live with your drinking buddy. I was in the same situation. But you can do it, you went for a month before without drinking you can do it again. Just take it day by day.

Pooky - you can do this. If I can do this- and I am - you can do this. Living like the walking dead is no way to spend the rest of your life. Start living - today. It is so great here on the other side of a self deprecating, miserable, pathetic hangover. Very best of luck to you.

Welcome back, pooky!

I was terrified to quit drinking, too. I think I was so depressed/anxious at the time that I couldn't imagine things ever getting better. They did, though, and they will for you, too. Have you talked to your husband about wanting to get sober?

Remember to take things a day (or an hour) at a time. Hope your counseling session went well!

Everyone feels that way at first.... you just have to trust that it's going to get better. My thoughts/emotions were all over the place, too - any thoughts of the future were totally overwhelming and made me want to drink. I just had to keep pulling my mind back to the moment and deal with the next 5 minutes or hour, or whatever I could manage. For the first few days, I stayed on this forum constantly. It was the only way I could implant some positive thoughts/motivation into my brain.

Will not be able to have my son over cuz I will want to drink with him.
If not to seeing him for a week or two makes it easier for you to stay sober, that's OK. Take it slow, maybe meet him for lunch one day, whatever you feel comfortable with.

It's not easy, because we've forgotten how to do things and how to be happy without drinking, but we don't have to learn it all right away.
