What to help with Opiate detox

I realize you cannot give medical advice on here, but this is the beginning of my opiate detox and I realize the next 5-7 days are going to be like hell. Any suggestions on things that will help cope with this? I am not going to be a statistic of the failures that cave, and I want to push through this the best way possible.

Loperamide (immodium) - stops the diarrhea.
Diphenhydramine (benadryl) - reduces the insomnia.

Both of these are unscheduled and non-addictive.

(Not giving medical advice, but I suggest you read up on these medicines).

Thanks for the replies, your support means the world to me, and I don't even know either of you personally... Odd how a complete stranger has the ability to make an impact on anothers life.

I have no experience to share but you might find a little more collective wisdom in our substance abuse forum, as well

Substance Abuse - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Please take whatever suggestions you may read here as what they are...people's experiences.

Not picking on Jake, but Benadryl, for example, is an allergy medicine - it's not actually a sleep aid...and I've seen on this site that it can be abused, so I'd be wary.

Remember what has worked for others may not work, or be suitable for you.

I really recommend you think about professional medical advice lostnneedhelp
