Going Hard! Seeing Great Results!

So I go hard at everything in life. I've always been that way. When I decided to get sober it was no difference. I went pretty hard. I brought on a nutritionist, a life coach, a personal trainer, a psychotherapist and a nutrition-based physician. Change your mind and you change your body, which changes your life right? My diet of fat, salt and sugar is gone. The sugar cravings were annoying the first few days but I feel amazing. No booze and I feel amazing. I'm working out 2 hours a day.

An hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. When I was boozing any form of exercise had me winded beyond belief. Not anymore. I'm shocked at how I'm breezing through intense workouts that would have had me on my death bed in the first 10 minutes. All the energy and intensity that I put into drinking, I'm merely shifting elsewhere. I joined a bunch of recreational groups, hiking, surfing, snorkeling and am engaging in healthy activities and meeting healthy people. My doc is administering intravenous amino acid and mineral therapy and after each session I feel AMAZING.

Sure my friends are still doing the weekend binge thing but I don't even care. My friend is celebrating his birthday next week and instead of going to the party I'm going to take him out to dinner the night before. I also gave up caffeine and after a week of caffeine headaches I feel so much more calm, less anxious, less reactive, less cynical, less argumentative. It's amazing how caffeine was affecting my personality without me even realizing it.

If I knew sobriety was THIS amazing I would have quit a long time ago, or better yet, never started!

That's amazing!
I started a workout program after I quit too. I ended having to quit weight lifting because of tendonitis. I started running to run my first 5k. Now I do a lot of biking.
I love being healthy much better than being drunk.
Keep it up, it sounds like you will.

Hi, I don't really know where to start... When I'm good, I'm good, but when I get off track I don't know when to stop ;-( I go to the gym 6 x a week, but when I have a big night out I really don't know when to stop. I wake up at night & think when I can have my next drink. I'm so distraught, I hate drinking, yet I can't wait til evening time..

You obviously desire a healthy and active lifestyle, and are working hard to achieve it. Relaxation and contemplation are also important to a healthy lifestyle. Balance is a good thing Keep up the good work!
