Will I ever get it right

Hi everyone, well I made it to 37 days and then messed up. That's the longest i have been clean in 30 years. I'm very sad right now. I let my ex of 25 years rent free head space and I lost control.

Perhaps good to be sad about the messup...if you did not feel that way, you would not pull yourself up, correct? We have all messed up...if you are like me and want a life change, you will reevaluate your sitch and move forward...so on to Day 1, right?

Well you have to have learned something in those 37 days.. So take that with you, and I dont know if your were trying to just do it alone or had a program.

I am as many firmly believe in programs , you can do it alone for only so long!!!!

I am a proud member of AA and love it every day..

Get back up, learn from it, and move forward..

Those 37 days can't be taken away. Looked at another way you have drank 1/38th of the last 38 days. That's not bad. There is always room for change and growth.

the beauty is that you can start again today with day 1. And next time that voice tells you to drink, think about how you feel right now and ask yourself is it worth it.
There is nothing so bad that a drink won't make worse.

I treated that voice that told me to drink the same way I treated that ex of mine that lied, cheated and stole from me. No more anger, no more battle, just no more, period. You can do the same thing with alcohol. There is a lot of support for you here, Prairie66. Keep posting, and welcome to SR.
