friday night

Friday nights are always difficult, its not like I can avoid the trigger, its a day. I'm watching tv and just keep thinking how great it would be to drink. I know I shouldn't but at times like this those reasons are so hard to make sense of. Sometimes I wonder if these triggers ever subside

I find the triggers come and go. It's only been 6 weeks, but it's easier to deal with the triggers now than it was. I think weekend and special occasions will always be big challenges. Hoping it gets easier! Hang in there, it's really nice to know you CAN make it through a weekend sober-it feels great.

When I first quit I created a document on Word. It had things that I found that inspired me not to drink, and reminded me why I quit. I added to it over the months. Sometimes it would be things I found on the internet, other things were messages people had sent me, and then there were posts from places like SR.

This helped me in the early times. You might want to consider making something like that.

For some the triggers subside, but remain. For others they go away completely. Remember why you quit. Good luck.

Fridays were my day to cut loose for 30 years, but the more I worked on my recovery, and the more sober Fridays I racked up, the less Fridays became an issue for me.

I haven't felt the 'pull' in years now.

Stick with it Admiral - do you have any support besides SR?

Ditto all the above,,

Try to start enjoying new things on these friday nights. As time goes by that old voice will lose strenght wont consume your time..

Friday nights are no longer anxious times for me with respect to drinking, 11 months on .
