Smile New here - going on 24 hours sober

I'm fine during the day, drink wine at night 3-4 glasses most nights after the kids go to bed. It's turned into an addiction and I'm tired of it. Not sure if moderation is possible for me, though I can limit to one glass of wine when I want to. I also tend to make bad food choices after a couple of glasses of wine as well, and since I also have weight issues, I can't afford to eat the junk food. Look forward to participating here.

Welcome anoninohio!

I've found that moderation doesn't work for me. Maybe commit to stopping for a while and see how you feel later on down the road.
I totally get the bad food choices issue. I had no idea that I was 20lbs heavier from my drinking/shoving my face.

Welcome, anon. I'm a newbie here, too. Every time I try moderation, I lose my judgment after about 2 drinks and forget all about the limits I had set. So for me, it's time to stop completely. I hope you will find the help here that you are seeking.

welcome anoninohio

If you're tired of it, I definitely recommend giving not drinking a go.
You'll find a lot of support here

Thanks for the welcome and for the support. I'm really feeling the urge for a glass of wine, but there is none in the house, and I'm NOT going out to buy more. Hope I can get to sleep tonight - have a very busy day tomorrow

Anoninohio, don't be surprised if your brain gets a little worked up at not being fed its expected depressant. It's natural for it to spring back to life and overshoot a bit. It will calm down when the brain chemicals get sorted out once again.

Around here they tell you that these physical feelings we get when we quit drinking are the surest signs that we are getting better and moving forward to our goal of that life without the worries, shame, anxiety and depression that go along with constant drinking. Hang in there, and welcome to the team.
