Two weeks ago, when I realized I was ready to stop drinking, I started looking for online advice and resources. I was completely awestruck at the amount of support and positive affirmation given on this forum. I've been battling alcohol addiction for several years and the hardest part of quitting has been trying to do it alone. I'm only 8 short days into my journey but my path seems a lot easier knowing how many of you have conquered this disease and are helping to clear my way. Thanks to everyone for posting kind words and encouragement. Even though they haven't been directed towards me they've helped restore my faith in humanity. They've also helped me be strong when I've felt weak. Words can't express my gratitude.

Thanks for a wonderful post, August. I felt the same when I joined here. My SR friends have seen me through some hard times and given me strength & courage when I felt fragile.

Thank you all very much. I wept a little when I found this forum. Part of me is sad that so many people are fighting this affliction but the other part felt like I had found a home.

I do AA, but SR is a very very important part of my own recovery. It is definitely my recovery "home"... absolutely... Keep posting. Welcome to SR.

((August)) - SR has been a HUGE part of my recovery - seen me through good times and bad. Support comes in all forms and fashions when we look for it, but I will forever be grateful to the people here...24/7, we "get" each other
