I drank from the age of 10 until the age of 25 with very few breaks in that entire time.
Others have spent much, much longer on the merry-go-round.
You need to do a few things. You have to commit to quitting. You have to be honest with yourself and others. You have to open-minded about concepts of how to quits. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes.
HOW - Honest - Open-Mindedness - Willingness ....That's HOW it works

i got to quit, i really believe im going lose eveything...tired of my kids seeing me drunk and my wife always waiting for me to fix this....My daughter who is 16 years finally had enough and called our pastor asking for help, took lot of courage on her part..
Welcome to SR, shwelters. I hope you find all that I have here
You can be sober. All you have to do is stop drinking. There are so many benefits to sobriety and you can have all of them. It's not easy but it's simple - you just have to stop picking up that drink.
Wishing you all the best on your sober journey.

I drank daily for 5 years or so, and heavily for many years before that, so change is very possible
The support and encouragement I found here really helped - good to have you join us

First day also here. Been a binge drinker for that last 7 years. Can go a 2 - 6 weeks in-between binges, but then always get wasted.
I need some good sober people to associate with and hope to learn more from all of you. Thanks

Hi shwlters. You sound fed up with your old drinking life. You can turn everything around - you don't need it as much as you think you do. It only feels strange for a little while, then we wonder why we thought we couldn't get through the day without it. I rarely think of it now, but I once expected the world to stop if I couldn't have my fix.
You can have a whole new life, free from those chains. Congratulations on making this big change. You won't ever regret reclaiming your life.
