Insomnia
I had forgot how awful the insomnia can be during the first week. Barely slept a wink last night but at least I am not hungover. I have sleeping pills but really trying to do things naturally. Have a great sober day everyone
Yep, it takes awhile for sleep to return to normal.
I just get up and either come here, work, or work-out.
I know it is hard to do something physical when your mind and body are tired, but for me, it does produce sleep. It also wipes away my anxiety.
I hope you find rest soon. In the meantime, relish the fact that you might be tired, but you are sober. And soon, you will be rested and sober. So trust that it only gets better.

Yeah, insomnia sucks. Looking forward a bit-my sleep has never ben so good or if it has I can't remember. If I recall, day 3 was the worst. Which means tomorrow will be better when you get there. You can do it! Take a deep breath and stay focused on your goal. Sounds like you have a good plan.

Yup, it's not nice. Like you, the first week was tough and it took several hours to finally get off to sleep. I'm now in my 5th week and on average it takes me about an hour to fall asleep. The sleep however is wonderful even if I do feel a little 'groggy' in the morning.
It does get better I can assure you

I have work at 7 am but will def be hitting those 6 am meetings on the weekends...thanks for the idea. Weekends are going to be most difficult, especially the first few as I will have so much free time.
The lack of sleep is certainly a big downside to the beginning of sobriety. After that passes however, falling asleep naturally (which I hadn't in over 4 years) is an amzing feeling. Waking up refreshed and ready for the day is just something you can't put a price on.

You have my sympathy, quitforme! My sleep schedule has been nonexistent since I quit nearly two weeks ago. More recently, I've been crashing and hibernating for 10+ hours. I am really looking forward to being on the other side of this.
That said, I am thrilled to be sober!

Hang in there guys. It gets better over time. Going on 5 months and I am sleeping like a baby. It did take some time for my sleep cycles to sync with the absence of the alcohol. Its frigging great getting up in the am without a hangover!
I have been taking melatonin supplement at night which is natural to the body. Helps make me sleepy and doesn't make me feel groggy in the morning. Another supplement that helps me is 5htp 100 mg taken once in the morning and one 30 minutes before bed. Helps with my mood and triggers my own melatonin at night.
