A sign?
A sign?
Hey everyone!
I just thought of something.. I called the Rehab that I had stayed at before, because I'm thinking of going back, and they told told me that there are no beds open and that there was a waiting list..
I was discouraged because I was kind of "relying" on them to keep me sober.. But maybe there's a reason there's no room for me.
Maybe it's a sign that I am capable of being sober on the outside, I just haven't been trying. I've been sober for 2 days now and I'm already starting to feel better! I feel like I've had a moment of clarity today where I know what needs to be done. I need to be honest, open-minded, and willing. I need to work the NA program. I need to spend more time here on SR. So that's where I'm at with that..
Also I bought this book today called "52 Weeks of Conscious Contact" By Melody Beattie. It's basically a daily meditation book for connecting with your higher power, self & others. Anyone else own it?

I'd take that as a sign. You have the knowledge, now it's time to work the program. Find a sponsor and work those steps. Stay stopped one day at a time, one half hour, if you need to, but work it.
I just ran into someone from AA who relapsed and has almost a week crack free. We made sure he hung out with some guys today as he was in a slippery place. Staying stopped can be done, just today, don't use!
Hugs & love,

I have most of Melody's books and read them every morning along with my 24 Hr Book and a few more. Lots of good Hazelden books.
Get back to NA. It's easier to stay than to have to "come back".
All the best.

Try to keep focused on the improvement in the way you feel. The first days and weeks are the hardest, you know that. Concentrate on doing everything you can for yourself, good nutrition, plenty of water, as much rest as you need, as few obligations as you can manage. I do not know the author you mentioned but reading short meditations would be great. I have nearly two months sober and did it without rehab, not expecting anything of myself except to be sober.
