Day 1
Welcome! I did it through AA, and at night and in the morn I am on SR. I really need the support of a group to quit drinking, and I really need this site when I am alone at home. It has been a sober saver to me since I found it!

Hi.
I'm 48, also a so-called "high-functioning" alki for many, many years. I'm now closing in on three weeks sober. It's doable. And worth doing. I think yesterday was the first day I didn't crave a drink after work. And that felt very, very good.

Welcome to SR soulgypsy. I find AA helps me a lot, as does this place. It's going to be a bit rough for the next few days, but it does get better, believe me.
What's your plan for staying sober? Because I quickly found out I could not do it on my own...

Awesome to have you
My first attempt at sobriety was after a ICU visit when I was 39. This place was the first thing I found and love it , you will find great support here.
I also use AA daily and have for a 1 1/2. That really ruined drinking for me.
