Sad

Just returned from visiting my friend int he ER from a relapse Her detox symptoms were so bad, she felt the ER would be her best option. I'm glad she sought medical help.

I'm just immensely sad...so hard to see her like this. She is filled with self disgust and remorse. I told her she has so much going for her and good people in her life.

Her sponsor is out of town and the stand in sponsor hasn't responded to her texts / calls. I just tried to be there for her and listen. I know she wants a better life for herself.

Seeing her in this condition is a very sober reminder to stay sober.

She's lucky to have a good friend to try and see her through. Is she still in the hospital?

Sorry to hear that pondlady as in anytime someone slips.

But well done on going to see her, and awesome job on her part going to the ER. I myself went twice and then one time landed in the ICU from detox. For me I was so surprised how much better detox went in the ER just knowing i was safer than every time i had done it at home. Not to mention so much easier, with the symtoms.

Prayers sent her way. Help her get right back on track, and just remind her to remember step 1, I do everyday, because the minute I dont the other 11 dont mean a thing.

Good love, Inda

She was released. Her bf came to pick her up. She was treated with fluids, anti nausea meds, vitamins and adavan.....and sent home with a sript for lithium. She was a bit shaky on her feet , but felt hungry, which I take as a good sign. I suggested chicken soup and comfy jammies. She is to be seen within two days by another doctor.

I can't stop thinking about her.

Thank you for the advice. I will give her some time to rest then reach out and make sure she is ok and remind her about step 1. Although I attend AA occasionally, I'm not an expert....just wish her alternate sponsor would get in touch with her....although I don't think they "connect"...but at least she is more experienced than I am.

Kim, you might want to call this (513) 351-0422 that is your AA Home office number there. And you could just tell the volunteer whats up with that co-sponsor and they should get you or her in touch with someone that WILL BE THERE.

Thank you IndaMiricale. I will speak with my friend tomorrow and see if she's heard from her sponsor. If she hasn't, I'll ask her if she wants me to make some calls on her behalf. I'd be happy to make the call, just don't want to do it without her permission. Not sure that's how things work in AA, but just seems reasonable to me. I hope she is able to get some rest tonight.

Love to you and your friend,

You have done the most important thing, being there for her. That is the kind of support she needs.
Does she know about this website?
Both AA and this forum are keeping me sober

Good on you

I just texted her both the information for Cincinnati AA home office and this website. Today is a fresh start for her.

I haven't had a response from her, but that is not unusual. I'll check back with her later today - I want her to know I'm thinking of her

Last Friday I went to an AA meeting, because she asked me. I'd go again if it would help her.

I remember you going, your not only helping her, your helping yourself by these things.

Keep it up, and stay on the beam.

Well....I wish I had better news to report about this friend. She has resumed drinking again Her new Face Book profile picture even features her with a wine glass I don't think she is attending AA meetings , nor her boyfriend Al Non.

During the summer, I have so much more free time. Being back to school and caring for my daughter's health problems are all I can handle right now. I'm sad she has made this choice again....but I've got to work on my own life and family. I continue to encourage her to resume AA.

I'm sorry for your friend Kim.
I really hope she'll find her way to a better life just as so many of us here have.
