feeling fine today

Havent had a drink yet today . I have thought about it sure, but no cravings so yay! Lots of the kind people who have replied to my posts have suggested AA, and I have been looking for meetings online but can only find one. The problem I have with these and talking to my doctor about it, is the confidentiality issue. I live in a small town in Wales, and am currently studying for my degree to eventually become a teacher. As you can imagine, the last thing I want is to make my problem public. ATM, as far as i can see, SR is my only safe option. But I feel stronger thanks to it

Glad you're feeling stronger Ash

I'm sure you'll hear from a few teachers in small towns who are also in AA too - if AA's the way you want to go, your job definitely needn't be a dealbreaker for you

Hello from a fellow Welsh-y! Am living in England now, though. Miss Wales so much!

Stay strong, you can do this. All you have to do is not pick up that drink. It's not easy but it's far, far, far from impossible. Believe that you can do it, and you'll be able to.

I feel the same about SR - I find that it is enough here to keep me sober. I hope it is for you, too. All the best.

Hey, I'm a teacher and in AA. Hasn't caused me any problems at all. Everyone in AA is bound by confidentiality. I've met other teachers, journalists, police inspectors and all sorts. It doesn't matter what anyone does.
Are you able to travel further afield if it worries you?
There are also other methods of recovery, check them out.
You are doing really well.
Wishing you all the best xx

Welcome Ash. As Jeni says, it's confidential in AA.
You can do it. AA is a big help for me. I often travel for over an hour on the bus to get to a meeting, because I need to do that.
SR helps a lot too. And there's some really great people on here.
