Short list of ideas for newcomers (and everyone!) that helps...
I read these sometimes when the going gets tough...
"Burn the idea into the consciousness of every man that he can get well regardless of anyone. The only condition is that he trust in God and clean house."

- One day at a time
- You can be too smart for AA, but not too stupid
- Pray in morning for sobriety, thank at night
- Don't drink in between meetings
- Pray when you have urges, thank God when gone.
- Sobriety is for people that want it, not people that need it.
- Half measures availed us nothing.
- Keep it simple
These are great and are really Alcoholics Anonymous things to do/remember.
Please know that this site is for everyone interested in staying stopped and AA isn't the only program and this is not an AA exclusive site. We have members who have stayed stopped with this site alone, SMART, Rational Recovery, AVRT, Life Ring, Women for Sobriety, and possibly another program (or none).
Tolerance, acceptance, love and support for all who want to stay stopped!
Glad you've joined us!!
SR has helped me to stay stopped for over 14 months now (along with another program and some other stuff thrown in!)
Love & hugs,

don't borrow trouble.
i say don't borrow trouble because that's something i heard from my mom and grandma. in my recovery, it means not to let all the "what if's" in my life threaten my sobriety. they're not worth it. i could fill my day with terrible "what if's" and bury myself in them so deep i couldn't see out. how is that going to help me stay sober today? i will deal with today today and tomorrow tomorrow. many "what if's" will come to pass, many more will not. had i worried about them, i'd have been borrowing trouble and what the heck good would that have done me? so in your recovery, don't go borrowing trouble. you don't need any more than what you've got anyways.
