Urine smells of sugar puffs/sweet

Hi guys,

I hope you are all well.

Without sounding too crude and getting straight to the point,

Does any body else have the same problem as the thread title?

Thanks in advance,

Bruno.

Hi,

It's probably something you should ask your dr about. Who knows what could be causing it?

Diabetes is something I'm concerned about....I've drank around 10 litres of water this weekend so ill see how the next few days fair.

I have read that it maybe dehydration.

A visit to the docs is a top priority of mine now though.

Well. ya went there so I will go there. Certain foods make my urine smell unusual. Three that I can think of are: asparagus, tuna fish (if I am dieting and had nothing else to eat but water), and sometimes coffee. I have asked others and they have experienced the same thing with asparagus and coffee.....

I looked my three up (asparagus, tuna fish, and coffee( and they are very common. I did see a lot about sweet meaning a possibility of diabetes, but we are NOT doctors around here so go get it checked out! But from what I read diet does, in fact, affect the odor of many folks' urine.....

Look up ketosis and see if it applies.

I've read that urine may smell sweet as a result of your body being in this state.

We had this conversion at work once - yes honestly we did! And we were all sober at the time

All four of us said that sometime our urine smelt of sugar puffs.

But as others have said if you're concerned please see the doc.

too many variables--what did you eat, how long sober, height, weight, etc.

See a doctor! you'll know what it is then.

eat well, avoid fast foods and processed foods and too much sugar.

Hey Bruno

How's it going?

In the UK you can call into a Lloyds chemist and have a test for diabetes, no need to see a doctor first. Dead simple and quick.

If you have got diabetes the NHS looks after you really well - eyesight tests, feet checks and diet advice.

I would see your doctor though just to be sure, but if you need to go tomorrow first thing, go to a pharmacy (as I said I am sure it is Lloyds) and ask their advice.

In my experience all sorts of things can cause urine to discolour or smell. If it is very dark, almost brown and smells strong, then it is most likely to be dehydration. Keep drinking the water.

Food can alter the smell and colour.
Men just like women, can also get water infections which can change urine appearance.

Heat can make you more dehydrated. Try to drink steadily throughout the day, as once you feel thirsty you are all ready dehydrated.

Another tip if your suffering is Diorylite - it's a sachet of rehydration salts that is sometimes used if you have been sick a lot or upset tummy. You can buy it from supermarkets and you mix it with water.

Its the same as drinking 7 pints of water!

But do go see the professionals and let us know how you get on.

All the best my friend xx

Hope your mind is put at rest soon.

Like others have said Bruno - best idea, hands down, is see your Dr.

You've got some valuable feedback...but as we can't give out medical advice here... thread closed
