He died today
Hi,
A few months ago, the kind people here offered great advice. I took it and got away from our home. It was supposed to be a temporary situation.
Since I left, he has been hospitalized twice for bleeding and or dehydration. He just couldn't stop drinking.
Today he was found dead in the house. They said he was dead for a couple of days.
I hope he is at peace now. I loved him so much. My heart is broken.

I'm sending prayers for comfort to you and to all who love this man.
Far too often...alcoholics do lose their battle.
Please don't neglect to contact your cancer team during this difficult stressful time
You need to remember that you too have been battleing.

This is beyond sad, Birdgurl, and I'm so very sorry for your loss!
I am terrified that my AH will soon follow, but I too had to go, as I could no longer bear daily witness to his relentless self destruction, and any help and love I could offer was not enough. He just can't stop.
Now you can also truly find peace in knowing that he is no longer suffering. My heart is with you tonight.

Birdgurl, I am so sorry for your loss. Please allow yourself to grieve your loss. When disease takes our loved ones unexpectedly, it is even more shocking because we do not ever want our loved ones to go before old age. I hope you know that your moving out did not cause this to happen. This is not your fault and nothing you could have done would have prevented it. Alcoholism is an insidious, deadly disease that cannot be cured but can only be halted by complete abstinence.
During this time please surround yourself with caring, supportive people. Al-Anon is a good place to share your feelings with people who understand what it is like to lose a loved one to alcoholism. Please take the best care of yourself as you possibly can and if you are unable, please reach out for help from your family, friends, and community. We love you here at SR and we are here if you need us.

Birdgurl,
I am wrapping arms around you and giving a big hug, and saying prayers for you , and for all who loved him.
I would imagine he did all he could do, and now he is at peace. no more pain.
I am so sorry. Please know that you also did all you could for him, but we just can't make them quit. May he rest sweetly, and may only the good memories stay with you.
my deep sympathies to you Birdgurl. Take care of yourself..

My heart goes out to you more than you know. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. This is truly a wretched disease. If love was enough to cure them, none of us would be here. He's finally at peace now. His spirit is free. I hope you feel God's loving embrace. He's got you in his care and He's got your AH too.
Prayers and deepest sympathy,
Mary
