New and shaky
Hi all,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Day 6or7 something like that. I can't think straight because the urge is overwhelming now and thats why I came to find this site-to help. And it has. Will be going to a meeting later tonight but I have to make it through these next few hours first.
*deep breath*
Ok. Thanks for reading.

glad you posted, fighting.
i found i had to narrow things down to the hour to get through that first week or to.
things will get better after you get a bit of time, and meetings will surely help with that.
have you gotten any phone numbers from people it meetings yet? it's hard to do, but if you can reach out to some of them you might be able to get out of the house and grab coffee with one of them....
you can do this

Hi Fightingspirit.
Yes this a great place for support. I does the job of taking your mind off things. Just to know there are people in the same situation is a good thing.
Have a good meeting, hope to see you around soon x

Welcome fighting! I remember feeling that way - but once it's over, your new life can begin. You never have to go back there again. Glad you are here with us, and that you're attending a meeting. You can do it, fighting.

Thank you. I have someone I can call in about 15 minutes. Just took a very hot shower and now I think I need to go get some candy haha
You all are very kind-this is a great place to come (( ))

Welcome, fighting. Lol about the candy. I have a terrible sweet tooth since i quit drinking. I found the first couple of weeks to be the hardest. A lot of it is not only the physical withdrawls but breaking the habit. Keep going to those meetings. A lot of it is about putting your head down and just pushing through those cravings. It's unpleasant to say the least but it has to be done. I read a lot, colored, took short walks...things that broke mt mind out of that cyclical thinking. Don't let yourself sit and stew during a crave. Coming here and reading the threads helps me too.
Welcome to SR!
I was going to suggest a shower and some ice cream, if you ate a healthy dinner. xa-speakers.org has speaker tapes (I love them! especially the old timer!). Meditate? Pray? Read some big book..... Drinking won't make anything better. A brisk walk also can help....
Glad you are here!

Welcome fightingspirit!
Good job on a week sober!
Cravings are so miserable, but waking up after a night of drinking is pretty bad, too. You're getting stronger every time you don't feed the addiction. It's great to have you with us!

Welcome! Today is my first day of sobriety AGAIN. I found this site by "accident" in the middle of the night last night and I owe the people here for me being sober tonight. I was amazed at the love and support I was offered and it really feels good to have others to talk to. Good luck with your meeting and "keep on comin back" . . .
