What a freakin alcoholic Catch 22

When i was drinking I couldn't stop drinking. When I did stop drinking I couldn't stop thinking about drinking. When I stopped thinking about drinking I'd catch myself thinking about not thinking about drinking which got me thinking about drinking. Could I be obsessive-compulsive over alcohol? Nah:-)

Yeah, I know what you mean! I think a lot about how good I feel not drinking. Do I want to stop that thinking or not? A bit OC here, too. hehe.

Kinda funny, very believable. Keep coming back, a crisis will happen in your life which will leave you thinking about it and nothing else. Be patient, it may take years. Hang in there.

"If I think, I won't drink. If I drink, I can't think." -from a card in a set in an AA central office.

Hi Fitz...Nice to see you back posting. Maybe you're getting caught up in "stinkin thinkin"?
I try not dwell there..it serves no purpose for me.

Best Wishes To You!

FITZ!!!

Where the heck have you been???? Missed Ya!

For me, today, I don't think so much of drinking everyday, but must think about my recovery daily. Sometimes a book with daily readings from my choice of recovery lit sometimes I wake up and come right here.
Acceptence my friend

MCF once the thinking about drinking or thinking about not drinking goes away there can be an erie silence. It can be disconcerting. It can catch us unawares. I think it marks the end of the beginning. It calls for something from us.

Totally remember that feeling (welcome back by the way!). I found the longer I stayed sober and worked on my recovery, those thoughts became non-existent eventually.

That's funny. I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. I swear. I thought, man, I haven't thought about drinking in a while. Then I was like, shitt! Now I'm thinking about not thinking about drinking.

If nothing else, it tells me I'm in the right place. I guarantee my grandmother didn't think about not thinking about alcohol. Just further proof that I am indeed an alcoholic.

Best of luck!
