Hi everyone
Hi, I'm new here. I realize I have a major drinking problem and don't know where to start to free myself from this addiction. So, yeah, haha... I love jamming out and watching car racing. That's about it for me lol

Welcome to SR. Good for you for admitting you have a drinking problem and making the decision to free yourself from addiction. What is that makes you think you 'don't know where to start'? Stopping is where to start, my friend 
are you likely to have bad withdrawals? Maybe it would be a good idea to see the doctor for detox if so. Wishing you all the best... stick around, there's lots of great advice and wisdom here.

Not sure where to start? Well coming here is one step. Stopping drinking is another. Finding an AA meeting is a third.
And there's a lot of great people here. I know they've helped me a lot. And they'll help you too. We understand, because we've been there.

I too love jammin out man! Twenty-eight years since I started on guitar, geez I am gettin' old. Not sure about this auto racing thing you speak of but I know you southerners like that stuff. :P
Stopping drinking is pretty straightforward, you just kinda .. stop drinking. It's dealing with withdrawals and fear and anxiety and changing your habits and your outlook and forgiving yourself for bad things you did when you were drinking, well, that stuff takes awhile.
I got through my first week or two the first time I quit--I had been drinking daily for as long as I can remember, so . . for years? I guess?--by coming to this forum and reading other people's threads. I would get home in the evenings and instead of starting in on my pre-dinner six-pack I would read threads on SR. After dinner I'd come back and read some more threads. It helped me a lot to participate in a community of people who understood what I'd been doing, and why. That meant a lot to me, still does.
Anyway, it's not story hour right now so I'll wind it up. Glad to see you are thinking of making a change, it usually works out well for people. Lots of good support here, I like it.
