Haven't done the social thing in 6 months

I have been invited to an AA BBQ today at 1pm. I am going to go. It is safe, it is with my AA friends, and I have no worries.

I really wanted it this time, so I have stayed away from all of my drinking friends for 6 months. I have been in and out of AA since the 80's and I am so grateful today that I finally got it.

I am doing the AA program exactly like they say to do it. It has been easy and hard at the same time. I have changed all my friends, places and things. I had to in order to make the program work for me.

I am feeling like my kids are thinking I am boring mom now, but I am just letting that be for now. It is much more important for me to be sober. I am just doing this one day at a time, and I am making it through the 4th.

Sounds like a plan!!

I understand about being the boring mom. I always prided myself on being crazy...living life...acting like a 21yo...

That has gotten me nowhere...

I can be pretty fun sober as well...and I get to remember it

Keep posting bc I love reading your posts and they are so helpful to me

Ann

Thanks Ann,
You brought tears to my eyes. I wasn't sure if what I am saying if anyone is reading, but thank you. I am hoping that I am helping at least one person, and now that you said that, I know I am.

It gives me hope to know that from my little posts, I am making a difference.
