Update : My first AA meeting
After several days of contemplating I successfully went to my first AA meeting today 
.. (Big step for me)
It was different to what I had imagined but everything that members here had told me it would be. I was made to feel welcome and yet nobody questioned me. I listened as the meeting was opened.. and as people there took turns to share. I related to all the shares, they sounded so like myself !!
I still haven't been to the Doctors, my appointment is at the end of this week, and still no-one who knows me face to face knows yet about my drinking.. how i share that I guess I will find the answer too..
Anyway thats my update as promised.. I will attend another meeting soon....thanks for all the support so far guys.. it's been really helpful

Wow, good for you!
It's incredibly scary going for the first time, I remember that. I was hung-over something awful, fragile, weepy, terrified and ignorant my first time.
But as long as you choose a good meeting with lots of combined sobriety, people will be gracious and welcoming and know right where you're at.

Hey they didn't bite or even try to abduct you into anything did they? I used AA in my early recovery aliong with there and was amazed at the difference between what I experienced, and what I have read in some circles.
If I had to do it again, which I will not, I would use my home group again. I made some very nice friends in AA.
