hello

I'm not a daily drinker, but when I do drink, I typically binge.. sometimes for days. I've been working on cutting back. I keep trying to quit.. made it for 32 days this last time. Then I did it again. I'm here because I don't know where else to go. I can't keep this up anymore.. it's slowly taking everything from me.

Welcome- this is a great place for support. Have you tried any local support (therapy, AA, etc)?

Thank you. I was considering making a call to an outpatient program in the area. The only problem is I don't want it documented through my employer's health coverage.

AA is free and no insurance needed

Welcome, this is where I first came when I decided to quit. Make sure to stay connected here to keep getting the support while you decide which program you would like to take part of near your home. And make sure to keep coming back, I've found this site of members a great pillar of support. We're here so you know you are not alone in this journey.

Your employer should not find out either way, it would be considered confidential. You would have to sign a release of information consent form for them to talk to anyone.

But yes, AA is free!!!!

Welcome! Besides AA, you'll get some great suggestions from members as to other options for help too. There's lots of experience amongst this great group of people.

Welcome, IWantSobriety!

I found that once I took that first drink or two, all my good intentions to control my drinking went out the window. Welcome to the forum.....You'll find lots of support and inspiration here!

There's something about knowing you're not the only one on the planet with this problem does kind of put you at ease.

Hi IWantSobriety,
I totally understand where you are at. I have dabbled over and over with drinking. It is such a part of my life unfortunately (Im a musician and work at a pub). I've stopped for periods and then I have one or two - I keep control for a bit but then it all falls apart again. Ehhh it is hard because I just wish I could control it. Anyway, sorry for my vent - this place is super great to reach out to people - artsoul we chatted in the past and you always have such great advice
best,
copper
