Nearly on day 3

When I go to bed tonight I will have made it through 3 days without a drink. I am currently sober the longest I have been on over 4 years. My body seems to be holding up ok, no shakes or anything, maybe just a slight feeling of anxiety.

Been downing 12+ beers 5 times a week for too long now, been lying to my fiancé about it, gambling money I didn't have to start with while drunk.

I finally got enough money from selling one of my bikes that it could pull me out of the financial hole I dug myself. My first step to making sure I don't dig another is stopping the gambling and lying, all of which happens because of the drinking.

So that's why I am here.

Nice work on 3 days! Keep it up. The sober life is hard at first, but it's so much better. Take care!

Welcome! Glad your'e here, life gets better as long as alcohol is taken out of the equation. Never forget the misery that brought you here in the first place and good
for you on cleaning up the wreckage of your past. Best wishes!

Congrats on 3 days! Amazing! Honesty really is the best policy. You're better without alcohol.

Pleased to meet you, SJJP. The feeling of not being alone meant everything to me - I hope you'll find hope and inspiration here at SR. You never have to keep secrets from us - we all understand just how you feel. You can do this! We're here to help.

Thanks everyone for the welcome :-)

I made it through the night but it was tough. I was seriously wondering if I could do it. But eventually I got to sleep and I woke up this morning (day 4) feeling better within myself than I have in so long I can't remember.

Next stop - 1 week!

4 days is a big deal, what you wrote inspired me when you said it's the longest in 4 years, i sure understand that. reparations and honesty sound like powerful goals and a much better way to live

Welcome SJJP and congrats on day 4!

Glad you're feeling better! I started feeling better around day 4 too, even though I still wasn't sleeping that well. The insomnia can be really annoying, but that will get better too.

Glad you're here!
