In Need of a Al-Anon book

Hi all,

I am an alcoholic in early recovery.

Hubby just doesn't seem to understand what is going on with me - why I must keep up with meetings -why it's so important for him to keep alcohol out of the house - why he can't crack AA jokes, etc.

I thought you all might be able to recommend a good book or two to give him to read - and I know, an Al-Anon meeting would probably be good for him. I will work on that.

Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

LOL, Louise

Melody Beattie is alot of our author of choice. "Codependent No More" is a good one. There are also Al Anon books like "How Alanon Works..for families and friends of alcoholics"

There is a book club in the FYI posts at the top and also a store here on the site where you can order both of the ones I mentioned.

I just recommended both of these to a friend at work and that, for me, is where I would start.

Good job on your own sobriety!!

Hugs,
JT

HI Louise. There are lots of good pamphlets etc available from Al Anon in your area, and most of them are free. Just look in the white pages of your phone book or do a google.com search for Al Anon and your city name.

But remember, just as your recovery is your deal, so is HIS recovery HIS deal. It might not hurt to drop a few suggestions and subtle reminders, but he'll have to find his own way.

Good luck, and congrats on your sobriety.

Hugs
Barb
