Extending blackout period
Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum. A friend is in a recovery house and was supposed to be off of a blackout period after 21 days. It was extended and she states she has no idea why, which I don't buy. What are some reasons blackout is extended?

Blackout period is typically a period of "no-contact" with the outside world like no visitors or phone calls. For some places it just means no leaving the house for anything other than work + meetings. Depends on the place.
There are thousands of reasons it could happen, from a relapse to a failed drug test to a poor-attitude. Usually it depends on the "house rules" of the recovery house. Could be something as benign as not being back at a certain time, could be a relapse, could really be anything.
Usually though they'll explain to the person why. Maybe they're just not comfortable with where she's at in her recovery? Not much to go on here...
