Taking a day to myself

Ive taken today off work. The first since being in recovery.
I'm behind with paperwork and the job is getting on top of me. I feel guilty for letting other people down but unless I step off the merry go round for a minute, I feel I might go under.
Time to stop. Take a deep breath.
I'm going to spend today catching up with everything, and try to get on to an even keel. It is so hard when my sobriety has become my over-riding priority and yet my thought space is taken up with pressing career matters. I cannot find the peace and time I need to reflect.
Today I'm grabbing a bit back.
I'm going to slow it down a little. I do not want to become ill with stress or be in danger of relapse.
I hope everyone I work with will allow me that and understand.
Sometimes there is just no balance unless we force it upon ourselves!

Jeni, You have such self awareness. I am glad you are able to see what you need and can do what it takes to get it. Have a wonderful day making yourself stronger. Please let us know how it goes.

That's a smart thing to do, Jeni, you have to take care of yourself first!

Good for you Jeni My work is like that too...sometimes so overwhelming I can barely think! The to-do's feel insurmountable at times I know. You can take days to regroup here & there. Sobriety & you come first
