One Year Sober !!!
One Year Sober !!!
I am as of today one year Sober. What a crazy year it has been. One I will never forget. I went through hell in the beginning eased up a bit. Around 9 months I started working again and have had bad panic, anxiety, agoraphobia, car anxiety. About a month ago I started an ssri to help. At 10 mg I felt a bit better and then got upped to 20mg. Since upping it, my anxiety and panic have been through the roof. I can't say I expected to feel like this at a year. I exercise eat good and take meds. Its a living hell. I hope that this year ostensibly better than last. I don't know if its the meds, my mind or P.a.w.s. Don't mean to complain but this is crazy.
Hey Slim! Congrats! I had terrible paws for 6 months and now looking back realize I still had PAWs for the whole first year.
Talk to your doc and see if he or she is amenable to adjusting your dosage back. I have no idea what an ssri is but I hope you can get your dosage adjusted to what you need.
No matter it all beats drinking and dealing with the same issues.

Year ago I just quit I was tired drinking I didn't know at the time that I should of went to get stuff to get off it. I quit cold turkey I only had the help and support of my wonderful wife. I had no idea about dt's back then. I use to listen to calming ambience music at night to help sleep. I've changed my diet and workout a lot. I wish my mind would go back to how it was as a teen.

Congratulations, and be very proud of yourself!
This is just a suggestion, but I had to try three different antidepressant/anxiety meds before I found one that worked for me. I almost gave up, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It might be worth talking to your dr about a different option.

Big congrats BGS
I totally agree with Anna. Keep trying to find a med that works for you. Don't give up.
It's been a tough but amazing year for you. I've been following your posts. You're an inspiration, truly!

Congrats on a year, Slim! I agree with what's been written. I've had bad anxiety from improper antidepressant dosages and drugs. It can take some trial and error to find the right one for you, but no need to suffer.
I hope year 2 is better for you as well! I keep enjoying sobriety more and more each day, and will have my year in a couple months. Keep up the great work, my friend!

Congratulations on 1 year!
I drank for 35 years, so I believe the entire first year was considered early recovery for me. I don't expect to be well in one year after all that drinking and drugging.
Your SSRI's should even out in a month or so. I hope you feel better!
One year is AWESOME!

Could it be the new job causing the anxiety? I tried the happy pills a couple of times but never could put up with the side effects, ended up switching to valium as needed, i used it about once a week at first, now maybe once a month for a big stressfull event. good luck with the ssri's and congratulations on the aniversary, that is really great, is it alcohol only that you are recovering from? it seems odd that you would be getting panic attacks after a year off from alcohol.
