Slightly nervous about tomorrow!

Tomorrow is my graduation party. It will be mostly family. The first part will be at a park until it closes then back to my parents house. My parents and extended family are, for the most part non-drinkers, but occasionally someone will bring some beer. I do have a few people that don't drink to stand by. Just slightly nervous I may give in, if the chance even comes up. Just needed to get that out there!

You know beer will be there...So the chance will come up.....I guess it all comes down to whether you want to drink or not.

You are right. I don't want to drink. I hope no one pressures as well.

Keithy congratulations on your graduation - awesome! Only you can bend your elbow, open your mouth and swallow. Be proud, stay stopped. No one will unduly "pressure" you to drink. If you were "pressured" to do something you were passionately opposed to, say, cut off your arm for instance, would you? If offered, politely decline. This is your day -celebrate in style. Good job!!

Nobody is going to pour it down your throat...You make up your mind that you aren't going to drink...Under any conditions...And you won't drink...It's as simple as that.

Congratulations on your graduation, keithy!

Someone here told me early on (I think it was Anna) to remember that we don't have to act on every thought that goes through our head. That helped me (it was a novel concept at the time!).

This is YOUR day and it's special enough - you're special enough - that you don't need alcohol (or anyone pushing a drink on you). Stay in the moment and enjoy it!

Congratulations on your graduation!

It will be 'Your day', so don't let anyone pressure you in any way. 'No thanks' is enough.

Enjoy your party.

It's good that you're wary about this Keithy cos that means you don't want to drink It's not a bad thing to be on guard. But don't stress too much. Practice saying 'no thanks' in your head (I do that) and have faith in yourself. Let us know how you get on x

That's it...You just have to beat it in your head that you're not having one beer...It's not an option...Get something you like to drink...Six pack of it...Water....Soda ...Whatever....Get it nice and cold...Have your own small cooler....And always have one in your hand at all times...Nobody will ask if you need something....And that's half the battle. Don't drink...No matter what...And have fun...You can have fun without alcohol...I've done it.

Keithy - That's progress - preparing yourself for the temptation - good that you are aware & ready for what might happen. I think it'll be fine, since you've thought about it in advance. Be proud of yourself for this accomplishment - congratulations on your big day. You have so much to look forward to.

It went really well! I pretty much stayed with people that don't drink the whole time, but there was very little alcohol consumption. Played a lot of ultimate frisbee, basketball, and eating far to much

I'm glad it went well...The best thing you did was prepare yourself for it...That's smart...Don't get overconfidant about it...But that strengthens your sobriety...Be vigilant...And don't drink today....Nice job!
