AS has been in great pain for few weeks. Bad experience at local hospital. Addicts CAN have real pain. He refused to go back until yesterday to a different hospital. After 10 hours in ER, they admitted him and this afternoon he is having emergency back surgery. There is a collection of "something" behind his spinal cord. .....probably infection.

I haven't forgotten the 4 months in hospital after cycle accident. It was a living nightmare. Fear.. (I know I'm not supposed to) much of the same.

Told would be here minimum of 1 week. Another fear - then what??? He won't be able to be alone. The thought of taking him home, especially after the last incident at my house, sends chills down my spine. But I don't know another choice ! Pray for his health and my sanity!

Many nursing homes have expanded and now have a 'rehab' portion for those coming out of hospital and who cannot yet be alone.

Please check into that, and not allow him to come to your home, after all you are not a nurse, lol Also check with the hospital Social Worker and get her/him working on it, explaining that there is no way you can have him at your home and take care of him.

You do not have to tell the SW why just that it is not a feasible option.

I am glad he finally went back to a hospital and like the others I agree there are other options think about those. Prayers for the both of you.
