Managing my sobriety on vacation

It is going well as far as being sober goes, but the weather SUCKS. It is raining and there is no end in sight. This makes me hate the beach. It is sunny at home. But whatever.

My sister inlaw was here for the past two nights and she got rip roaring drunk. It makes me realize how obnoxious and boring I was. I went to bed and read when I had had enough.

So I am happy to be sober but missing my dog and home. So glad we are staying at my father inlaw's condo for free. I would be very pissed if we spent money renting a condo.

LOL! I have absolutely no desire to drink. Being around drunk people is a deturrant.

had a similar experience on a fishing boat yesterday. two dudes right next to me killed at least 8 Budweisers each within 3 hours. they were jovial enough. the shot of the cooler full of beer and ice drew out a bad urge. but I also realized that they were acting like fools and could hardly speak, and how I don't want to be like that.

I'm on vacation this week and staying sober around drinkers. I know what ypu're going through. Don't be afraid to remove yourself from them if it gets to much. I went to bed early or read a book or came on this forum for support.

Elisabeth, I hope the weather improves for you, and that you can enjoy your beach get-away.

Just got back from this dive called the Florabama. They have food so it is not a total bar. It was a dirt hole. You need to be drunk to think that place is fun. It was gross.

It is clearing up though We are back at the condo and I like it way better than being at a bar.
