"Fog"??

Has anyone experienced themselves or with a family member/spouse the "fog" while the person is drinking as well as a period of time after the person stops drinking?? My boyfriend recently stopped drinking--he says that he was, in his words, in such a 'fog' while drinking that he couldn't think clear and now that he has stopped he is still experiencing this. Just wondering if this is something that lasts a long time after one stops drinking or what?

Oh yeah, I was in a fog for a month or more after I quit. It will get better if he continues with sobriety.

Oh yes, I remember 'the fog.' lol

My 'fog' started to clear at about 3 months, however, it wasn't until about six months sober that I felt like the 'fog' was gone and the 'mush' was disappearing also.

Now for me it was many years ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I do understand what your boyfriend is talking about. If he stays on the path of recovery, it will clear in time.

Love and hugs,
