Day 3

Ive been trying to get sober since January 2011. I have had several decent stretches of sober time which I enjoyed. The bottle always calls me back. Every relapse has been worse. Last month I was in ICU for 2 days. This time I basically humiliated my entire family, lost our house payment and someone i love very much vowed to never have anything to do with me again. Day 1 & 2 for me are always "ok" Im so upset by what happened that Idont want to drink. Day 3 is different. In my messed up mind it becomes "no big deal" and people need to get over it and worry about themselves. Sick huh?

I know if I can get past today and mainly Friday night I will be on a good road. I hate to get my hopes up. Ive tried this so many times and failed. I found an AA group I can goto during lunch break which I like. I had a group I really liked in my hometown. However I cant go back there because I made a total fool of myself and pissed alot of people off.

This time is it. Im on the very verge of losing my family (whats left). Once the people at my work figure out what a loser I am am that door will shut. NExt is death or jail.

I found an addiction specialist I am going to go see June 11. Im putting alot of faith into this guy. This will be my 4th Dr (besides the multiple people I have seen when going to the ER)

I dont know how it got this bad. I wish I could remember the moment and go back to it.

Oh well...poor me right? LOL

Don't ever think like that...There is nothing they haven't seen...And you will always be welcomed back with open arms...That's the way AA works. It would be good for you to go back there and share how you are doing. Maybe admit that you were wrong and say you need their help. It's great for charactor building. Keep coming back.

Okla! I remember you well.

My goodness how did you end up in the ICU? That is terrifying.

Are you still married?

I'm glad you're going to an addiction specialist.

IME.. once you 'get it' it's not that difficult. I say that only because my misperceptions about recovery kept me drunk. I will have 2 years in August and alcohol is such a non-issue in my life. I just don't drink. I definitely feel grateful to be sober. But it's not a struggle to stay that way. At all.

I used Rational Recovery for my recovery and highly recommend it. Whatever gets you sober!

WOW I remember you too! How awesome! Im glad you are doing good! ICU...lets just say I drank WAY WAY to much. I was sober for almost a week when i got out and decided to make a plan for drinking. Well that didnt work. My family physician told me i need to make a plan for my funeral. Between that statement (which really messed me up) and the events of last Friday...I think its high time this stops. It hasnt been fun in a long time anyway!

Oh! I didn't realize. That makes it harder in some ways and easier in others i guess. Are they young? I have 3 young kids. Parenting sober is night and day different from alcoholic mothering.

I'm with Sapling. I made a big ass fool of myself too, but when I came, tail between my legs, back to AA they welcomed me with open arms and with more love than I deserve(d).

We do not shoot our wounded in AA.

What helped me turn around my life was putting a lot of faith in my ability to change my life for the better. Getting help is important so is believing in yourself.

Keep working for a better life and I believe you will stay sober.

look what not drinkin and going to meetings did for ya: you remember what ya did!! thats progress!!!

the ONLY way you can **** off people is if they let ya **** em off. if something you said or did pissed em off, thats their problem, not yours.
and isnt pissin people off progress over pissin on yerself???
