EMDR Therapy?

Does anyone here have experience with this type of therapy? I am starting it next week for post tramatic stress disorder. it stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing . It is supposed to help you process trumatic memories so you are no longer affected by them. Takes half the time at talkbase therapy and have good results .

I personally have not done it, however, I do have several
friends, one just recently that are over enthusiastic about
it, they say it really works, and their PTSD has really abated
to the point that they feel they are now living 'normal'
lives.

Give it a shot, it cannot hurt, and if it helps, well ..............

Love and hugs,

I've done it and it was extremely helpful. But a piece of advice: Stick with it for the long haul until your therapist says you're done. I quit too soon the first time around because I was feeling good and was stuck with a lot of unfinished business until I resumed it again years later.

I did it just once and had a profound sense of relief afterwards. Hope you get the results you are after.

My experience with EMDR therapy was very positive! Like any other kind of therapy it isn't an instant fix and takes commitment; as Florence posted please stick with it until you and your therapist feel you are ready.

I started EMDR because of PTSD - resolved the triggers rather rapidly and then kept at it to address other long term issues.

These days when I get "stuck" I walk in to my therapists office and ask her to pull out the "magic" lights!

Good for you for getting the help you need and deserve!

I have done this therapy and recommend it to anyone

Excellent for sexual trauma in my life. I also was able to recal, release and process difficult childhood stuff that drove my co dependent thinking...And at the same time reclaim some very positive memories that were tied up in the compartments.

good luck with, it just make sure your therapist is in for a while. It can stir stuff up, but not in a jarring way.

My sister is currently doing this and loves it. If I remember correctly the literature says that it's as effective as CB therapy.
