Celebrating good news without drinking.

Hi guys,

I am trying to reduce my threads now that I am stable, but today I had some fantastic work related news, without going into too much detail it was a superb excuse to celebrate with alcohol.

Obviously I didn't, but even though I am heading to bed now with a smile on my face I must admit that I feel cheated that I haven't had a proper celebration. And we all know what a proper celebration is. Normally I would go to the pub and hammer the beers and then return home with a couple of bottles of wine which my non alcoholic wife may have 2 glasses out of the 2 bottles and I'd have the rest.

Luckily my wife has tonsilitas (how sad is it that I'm lucky by this) and is on antibiotics so she hadn't any intention to drink. (She doesn't know of my concerns)

Back to the point though,

How do you guys usually celebrate good news without touching alcohol.

Sober dreams,

Bruno.

Not trying to be funny but I just celebrate it Bruno.

I celebrate my achievements and that my hard work paid off and I spend time with my family and friends.

If you want a more tangible reward - buy something nice for yourself, order a nice meal, go tenpin bowling...whatever will make you happy, man

Drinkings not a reward for me - drinking kills me...from the inside out.

That is a great answer Dee,

One which I will go for myself.

I think that most questions that are asked on here the asker already knows the answer.

I am new to this game and the tempations are and will always be there.

I am just seeking reassurance and I'm not frightened to admit it.

As always, thank you for you help.

Bruno.

I personally prefer ice cream. It can make you fat but at least it doesn't make you drunk.

Bruno, I do know what you mean. I remember early on how flat things seemed at times - like holidays. That was just the first few months, though. I was very grateful to be off the stuff, but I had some work to do so I wouldn't feel sorry for myself. Those feelings all passed, though. Proud of you for not caving - and congrats on whatever happened at work to make you happy.
