Alone Tonight
Alone Tonight
The wife has to work late tonight and I'm sitting here in the office about to go home. Ordinarily, this would be an excuse to pick up a six pack on the way home and drink tonight. I've made it one week and really haven't had a real hard test until right now.
I'm determined not to blow it tonight, but I'm having a hard time doing anything other than sit here and think of the craving. Argh -- gonna take it one hour at a time.

Did you know you can buy computer games on direct download and play them stright away? Some cost as little as a six pack of beer.....
Stay the course dude~~~!
These games are great, btw. Just so you know~~~~

I used to love Red Alert 2. Probably the coolest war strategy game I've ever played.
Never got to play any other C&C games.
+1 on the computer games thing -- not a permanent solution to be sure, but it has gotten me through a few tough times.
If that's not your thing books are a great distraction. In rehab I earned the dubious reputation of maintaining a library's worth of reading material, as I had my parents bringing me boxes of books each week. I probably read about 45 books in those first couple months.

Make a plan for how you're going to spend the evening. Zone out in front of the TV, rent a movie, play a video game, read a book, mow the lawn, cook a nice surprise dinner for your wife, call a buddy you haven't spoken to in ages, go to a meeting, go to a movie, go to a bookstore, ride a bike... you get the idea, but a plan for the evening will help!
Thanks for the encouragement all. So far so good. I have my kiddo with me, so we went to McD's so she could play in the play area. Then went and bought some stuff to have a little daddy-daughter cooking adventure to make dessert. Of course -- thats the opposite of doing some stuff around the house to make my wife happy. Quite a mess going right now...
