hi.

I can't stop drinking. Every night when the local store is about to close, I almost fly into a panic to do whatever it takes to get my booze. I need to stop this. I am very intelligent. I could help so many people if I could get over this ****.

Welcome to SR!

I know you can quit if you want to. It's tough, but if I can do it anyone can. Have you tried any method of quitting yet, ie AA, AVRT or anything else?

Stick around, this is a great place to learn.

Best wishes,

Hi heliotrope

Support really helped change the game for me - it really made a difference for me to know other people understood and were rooting for me - it made me that little bit more accountable too

I know SR can help you too - glad to have you with us

Hi helio,
I used to do the same mad rush to the liquor store before closing and I always made it on time! Strangely, I never made it to work on time. It's no way to live your life that's for sure! Coming to this site can get you started on quitting for good.

Hi Heliotrope,

Is that the flower? Those smell amazing. I imagine that I will be labeled (correctly) as the blood sugar watcher, but try to have a great early meal limited in carbs to get you over that time. that so far is my best tool to avoid the afternoon testing hours. Also, look into taurine. It binds to alcohol receptors (some of them) and can help slightly reduce a craving from my experience.

Glad you joined the family, helio. I thought of myself as a lost cause until I came here. I found the encouragement and hope I needed to stop destroying myself. I was drinking round the clock in the end - but I now have over 4 yrs. It meant everything to know I wan't alone anymore. I hope you'll feel the same.
