Librium
Librium
My dad is currently attempting another stint with sobriety. He's taking Librium (as prescribed by an addiction specialist) to help the withdrawal symptoms. Has anyone had a family member take this, and were they incredibly loopy? My dad is starting his second full day without drinking, while on the Librium, and I swear he seems drunker than when he is drinking beer. He's on a taper (that'll start tonight). Anyone else had a family member taking this, and what were the results?
Librium is a benzo, benzo are very sedating and very addictive, I hope he doesn't stay on them long.
Valuim is traditionally used in detox facilities.
It helps with withdrawal symtoms and helps prevent seizures.
It's a good med to use for detox , but not long term.
The combination of Libruim and withdrawal is very taxing on the body and brain, I bet he is loopy.

For sure these things will make the user loopy. The wife was prescribed those by her G.P. Doctor in the very beginning of her attempts to maintain sobriety. Well in her case it was like pouring gas on a fire. She would take these like M & M's in hand fulls and wash them down with her wine. Needless to say they did'nt help her much. It just compounded her issues big time and made more problems.
I'm sure they may help some people, it just was'nt for my wife.
