Liver Failure and still craving a drink!
I am nearly 33 weeks pregnant and 349 days sober. Earlier this week I presented to Labor & Delivery with lower back pain. Preterm labor was ruled out, as I began to turn yellow with jaundice. My liver is Cirrhotic and the demands of the pregnancy caused my liver to start shutting down. I am laying here in the hospital, fetal heart belts on my belly and I can only think of a having a drink! What is wrong with me? I've been sober nearly a year, pregnant with my first child, liver shutting down due to prolonged alcohol abuse and I am craving a drink!!
I hope you get the medical and nursing attention you and your baby need. My prayers are with you.
Alcohol was my 'go to' mechanism when things were not going well for me. Stress leading to alcohol was a well worn route in my brain.

What's wrong is you're an alcoholic. It's ok. You're brain is going to run to that old stand by but the most important thing we can all do is not take that drink. I don't pray but you and your child are in my thoughts and in my heart.
I would call it untreated alcoholism. Alcohol was my solution. I have a new solution in the steps of AA. They saved my life and gave me a new view on everything, especially me.
Breathe. Your babe needs ya, so do we. Consider an opportunity to start life, yours and the baby's, on a new path.
We're here for you. I hope you told the doctor about your health history.
I wish you well! Call the AA hotline and maybe someone will come and talk with you. There is new relief!
Hugs,

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and your baby. You're dealing with a lot, it would only be natural for us to think about drinking. Just remember you don't have to dwell on it or let it draw you in to it's lies.
Do you have support? You might want to ask the nurses about talking to someone while you're there - they usually have people on staff as counselors. We're here for you, too......:ghug3

Ah, what a wonderful gift you are giving that baby by quitting before you got pregnant. As the mother of two great kids, I can tell you that you'll never regret that decision...even though it's tough sometimes.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your precious baby Sobersloan. Your going through so much...hang in there and know you have all our best wishes.
Please let us know how you and the little one are doing.

I know it sounds trite and it's simple but very hard, but please try to be easy on yourself, guilt and shame can't help you. You did the right thing by quitting, remember that.
I would focus on what the doc's say you need to do, and do that.

Understandable that you would want something to blot out what is going on now.
It is a thought don't turn that thought into action. Thoughts come and go don't hold onto it.
What is the prognosis?
All the best
