11 months today - what I've learnt so far...
Hi everyone,
Just a little update from me - I'm 11 months sober today
When I came here over a year ago, I was a self pitying 'child' who had a lot of work to do on herself ....AND I still do have a lot of work to do on myself
But... I have so far learnt that -
My feelings won't kill me. I can feel sad, angry, lonely, happy without resorting to drinking.
Sometimes, I practice acceptance (still WIP this one ) like letting some of my family go from my life because the relationship was so unhealthy, it wasn't good for any of us.
I no longer act totally on impulse, I try and think things through or sometimes, I just let things be....fancy that?!
There are people out there who will not judge me for being an alcoholic - nor will they judge my past and they accept me for me
Everyone else is NOT to blame for the way I feel/view myself - WOW!
I start to put in to practice some realistic goals for me to achieve. I've started doing a distance learning course - I wouldn't have had the time (too busy drinking) or money to do this (too much wine to buy)
Thanks everyone for all the help and support
xx

Congrats on 11 months!!...That's wonderful. You got sober about the same time I did. I'm right behind you....I didn't think I'd make it a week. I'm so happy for you. Are you still involved with AA?
