I Admire You

I debated whether or not to post here. I came across SR on a tangential google search and I've been reading the threads here for a week now.

Addictive behavior is not my personal burden (though I was a problem drinker in my 20s, I can socially drink and barely do so out of choice). Of course, I have life problems-they just don't center around substance abuse.

And I have very little personal experience with real addiction even in my extended family.

I began reading threads here out of curiosity. And then I started to see the incredible humanity at play here. How much you support and care for each other. The things you value here, like gratitude and strength and kindness towards one another.

I know how hard it is to change in life. The littlest habits take so much effort and strength to alter. And many of you are working so hard against such a difficult foe.

I hope I don't appear like a tourist or condescending or anything like that. But I wanted to share my admiration for you and this community. I have already learned amazing lessons in gratitude and day-to-day happiness just from reading what you post here.

Thank you.

How sweet this was to read. I have felt the very same way, the moment I stumbled across this website. Such love and encouragement here. If only more people would pass this on, just because!

Very kind of you to take some of your time to give us your observations. You must be a kindred spirit.

Thanks for the nice post.
I suppose a lot of the stuff we talk about would be applicable to anyone.
I have often heard it say, that the 12 steps should be taught in school!

Wow, that was so nice to read.

Thanks for taking the time to post that.

I think we're all pretty proud of what we try to do here everyday.

Just keep coming back and reading this will effect you in more positive ways than negative. Understanding is one of our best tools in recovery. The secret to happiness is the fear and honer of God.

Great post. If you ever run into addiction amongst your friends and family, we are here. There is also a grief and loss forum, which we are sure to need someday.

Thanks again.

Thank you everyone for your nice welcome.

I see more mindfulness, gratitude and kindness here than any Buddhist website I've ever visited.

Thank you all again.

Never visited any Buddhist websites before...But recovery will bring those traits out in people. A lot of great people here...It's like my online homegroup...Thank you for the very thoughtful post.

LOL, I am a Buddhist, Pure Land. I think the big difference is that many of them are trying to achieve something noble whereas we are simply trying save our lives.

Thank you for your thoughtful post.
