Had Some Meical News Today
Not so good but don't drink for 47 years is an an idea. So my doc says in could be fatal and laughed and said life is, I'm so bad. Love to all if I'm not on for awhile
I'm sorry for your news Fitz...I know it would be hard but try not to let it overwhelm you...the Dr doesn't sound like he's speaking with certainty at all?
I think SR, here with all your friends - is the best place to be

Wow, Fitz, that's really scary. But as Dee said, it sounds like the only thing we know for certain is that you are better off not drinking. You can do it, I have absolute faith in you. I hope better news is on the horizon.
Sounds like the doctor needs a doctor!
I wouldn't expect you to be in fighting shape after the old drinking thing, but I am a great believer and have witnessed amazing healing in the human body.
Give it a chance Fitz.
Is it something specific? or is the doctor just saying you are a bit of a wreck at the moment?
My father is 83yrs old and he was anointed in 1977, drank like a madman for 20 more years and had a by-pass 2 yrs ago, a pacemaker a year ago and drives around and smokes his pipe today. You know the movie "Shawshank Redemption"?
"Get busy living, or get busy dying."
Also, my uncle was given 6 months to live and died 20 yrs later. You just don't know until you are actually dead.

You're right Fitz, life is fatal, but it seems to be easier to stay engaged with it when we are ignorant of the when and how the end might come.
It's hard news. Are you laughing and shrugging inside? I'm not. I have a terminal illness too. And it can get me down, way down. It sucks to think that dying is sometimes the thing that my living is focused on.
I don't know your situation, so I don't understand why it may keep you away from SR. I hope that it doesn't need to do that. For our sakes AND yours.
I've been in my own deep funk lately over trying NOT to focus on what I can't do, and stay busy with what I can do. I know that I can do more when I'm not wasted, and I know that (I've always been an experience junkie) I want to live whatever time I've got left awake and aware. I've done the stoned thing, it was interesting, but no point going back there.
Of course I'm typing all this on a clear day, a day when symptoms of "can't do" have subsided. My news is not fresh and smarting like yours is. It's not one of those days when I'm shaking my head and laughing at the irony of it all, while silently cursing inside. But I know those days.
stick with us.
