4 week milestone!!
A quick post and update.
Just realized its been 4 weeks today sober!
It's been relatively easy mostly, only tempting if I'm out in the evenings or in the few minutes after something very stressful has come up - though its only been twice in the last month. I've been able to switch the addict brain off quickly and sort out the situation like a responsible adult. Which is such a rewarding feeling - Joan Didion said 'Taking responsibility for ones life is where the source of self-respect springs' - I've noticed this in plain truth the last month.
I've lost 4 kilos also - attributed to simultaneously giving up sugar, processed wheat, and dairy with alcohol and also running everyday for anywhere between 20 mins and 2 hours. I've also been doing strength training in the evenings and a bit of yoga. I'm looking good again, like my old lover 'metabolism' and I have been having an affair. I hope its longterm.
As for my parenting and work life - both have been more enjoyable, lighter, more focussed. I haven't been running so late to things and my daughter and I have been going 'jogging' together - which has been so lovely.
Anyway, that's it. Just focussing on work a lot and been getting great new projects and developments, not interested in men at all, feeling good about nourishing my body and mind. I have this beautiful image of myself, imagining me turning 30 (in two years) and being a strong, healthy, clear minded, together woman - I hold onto this image everyday.
Sobriety is the best thing that has ever happened to me!!!! Looking forward to checking in on month 2.
Thanks for all your support and sharing - you guys got me here, truly.
Hugs to all who need them today - you can do it! x

good work! A month sober is a great achievement...also great that you are exercising. I have also turned to exercise to help me quit alcohol. Makes me feel so good and therefore, I feel I am less likely to start drinking in fear that I will undo all my good effort!!
