Going out...
Going out...
I'm going out tonight with a group of sober people to a fund raiser for a local Sober House. Silent auction, dinner and dancing---The event itself may not be totally liquor free, but that just doesn't matter to me what others choose to do.
I'm going to have some sober fun!!
Yep, going with my sponsor and their spouse and some home group friends and possibly their spouses.... I'm looking forward to dinner, so exercise (serious exercise) will start tomorrow!

Miss Uncoordinated Or So I Thought can dance without booze! LOL
I had a great time! Yes, there was alcohol available for those who chose to indulge. That one table was really loud, though. It was fun to be around those hob-knobbers (sp?) with the ability to help people like US.
This Sober House is a county and city run place which has helped many people get back on their feet as they recovery from addiction/alcoholism.
The mayor was there along with other city council members. Some judges from the county and our neighboring county had a "Temptations" routine and sang for the audience (I danced). "The Reunion Band" played for us. The event was titled Denim & Diamonds this year.
I did have a large bowl of ice cream with too many toppings. I did get the news anchor's autograph for a friend of mine who really likes her. So, I wasn't self-involved the whole evening. Not sure why I'm telling you all this, I'm not trying to blow up my ego.
If those people only knew who they were shaking hands with and talking to.... The mayor was quite humble as he shook my hand and said his name without his title attached (I must have had a slightly puzzled look on my face--he got a bit older since I last saw a picture of him). I hope to attend this fund raiser next year!
Good thing I am sober today!

About to get in bed. Picked up my mail (late) and the gas bills says "No Payment Due" as the work I did last summer when in early recovery (I needed energy assistance through my county) has given me a small payment, so I have an overpayment for this month and possibly next month, which is great as my subbing job is just getting me by now. I did let the correct people know I am interested in permanent employment, so we shall see what happens. Things are up in the air about this summer and work and $....
Life is really cool when sober and working for that sobriety!
