AD and I both landed jobs...

Holy macaroni, it all happened the same day!

My employment specialist through an independent living agency is also AD's employment specialist, and she was over to see AD yesterday.

My veterinarian has agreed to let her do a community based assessment at the clinic, and I imagine it will be 40 hours total. I've done two assessments myself, one was for 40 hours, the other was for 80 hours total. It's a good start for her. She will start within the next week or two, depending on how it takes to get it set up (scads of paperwork, of course).

She also wanted to talk to me while she was in town, and told me that there was a job for a personal care attendant (which I have a lot of experience in) here where I live, part-time, with flexible hours. She wasn't sure of the hours, possibly 10-15 a week. No heavy lifting, just light housework, possibly laundry, and going to the grocery store for the client. I will start work the end of this month.

AD is attending weekly sessions with a drug/alcohol counselor, we both continue to attend therapy, she goes to AA meetings with me, and I also continue to attend Alanon.

I told her I would revisit the May 1st move-out date based on what she continues to do. Not having any financial support from her to help with bills has been the biggest issue for some time now. I don't know yet if I will extend the move-out date. I still don't trust her, but with over 15 years of active addiction under her belt, she knows that trust is earned.

She does continue to pull her weight around the house as far as cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc.

All in all, I can't complain, and am so grateful that these jobs came through because it's taken a huge weight off of my shoulders. Recovery is a beautiful thing whether it's from addiction and/or codependency, and in my case, both.
I've had so many tools to work with during these challenging times, and I am proof that recovery is possible.

Thanks once again to each and every one of you here at SR. I read every day, and post when I feel I have something to contribute. I get something out of each post that I read.
